Buying on Klatchit
Buying on Klatchit
Klatchit is a marketplace of independent sellers built around a shared product catalog: instead of duplicate listings, offers are grouped by product, so one product page shows every seller's price. You are always buying from a specific seller, and payment goes directly to that seller.
Finding products
- Search (
/search) supports sorting by relevance (default), price, or newest, and filtering by category, brand, condition, price range, in-stock, free shipping, and minimum rating. - Browse categories at
/c/..., deals at/deals, or a seller's storefront at/seller/[store]. - Conditions — eight values: New, Used — like new, Used — very good, Used — good, Used — acceptable, Refurbished, Used, and For parts.
Choosing an offer
Each product page shows a buy box (the featured offer, normally the cheapest from a healthy store) plus an "All offers" comparison of every purchasable offer — store, condition, price, sale badges, stock, and seller rating. Pick the offer that suits you; the card-statement descriptor you'll see is shown before purchase.
Cart
Your cart groups items by seller. Prices in the cart are advisory — checkout always re-prices from the live listing. Quantities are capped at available stock. Anonymous carts are kept on a cookie and merge into your account when you sign in. Seller coupon codes are entered in the cart, one per seller group.
Checkout
- Guest checkout exists. You can check out without an account by entering an email (for your receipt) and a shipping address inline. No account is created; your card is used for that order and then detached unless you opt in to saving it. Signed-in buyers pick a saved address and optionally a saved card.
- One payment per seller. Each store you buy from charges you separately on its own Stripe account, so a multi-seller order appears as several lines on your card statement (e.g.
KLATCHIT* ACME GOODS, or justKLATCHITfor items sold by Klatchit itself). Klatchit authorizes all sellers' charges first and captures only if every one succeeds — if any charge is declined, the rest are voided so you are never half-charged. Unsure about a charge? Look it up at/charge. - Shipping is per seller — a first-item rate plus a per-additional-item rate for your destination, shown before you confirm. Some sellers offer free shipping over a per-seller threshold.
- Tax is charged by the seller (each seller is the merchant of record) based on your ship-to state and that seller's rates.
- Local pickup can be selected per seller where offered — see Local pickup.
- Promo codes and store credit: platform promo codes are entered at checkout, and signed-in buyers can apply store credit — see Coupons and store credit.
- Payment is by card through Stripe's hosted, PCI-compliant payment fields; Klatchit never sees your full card number, and 3-D Secure bank verification is supported.
After you order
- You get an order confirmation email with an order number like
KL-XXXXXXXX-XXXX(e.g.KL-MSWLRJE9-972C), including the statement-descriptor line for each store. - Signed-in buyers land on the order page under Your orders; guests get a thank-you page keyed by order number.
- If your bank requires extra authentication, the order waits in an "awaiting authentication" state and you receive a confirmation link by email.
